Middleton and Monkston in Sunday Times Top 1% Best Primary Schools

Middleton & Monkston

30 November 2018

Middleton and Monkston Primary Schools, both part of the Kingsbridge Educational Trust, are celebrating being placed in the best 1% of the most academically successful state schools in the country.

Based on their superb SAT scores in reading, grammar and mathematics, the schools, which are less than two miles apart, have been listed in The Sunday Times top 250 state primary schools.

“It has been a tremendous week for Middleton school”, Headteacher Rachel Roberts said.

“We are thrilled to be in the Top 1% of Primary Schools in the country. Children at Middleton make excellent progress and achieve outstanding results year on year. To be recognised in this way by The Sunday Times is real testament to the hard work of our teaching staff and pupils, especially as this good news comes within only days of being congratulated by the Schools Standards Minister for being in the top 7% of schools in the country for our achievement in the government’s phonics screening tests.”

Monkston School Headteacher, Hannah Williams, added:

“We only want the best for our pupils at Monkston and with such a strong team of dedicated professional staff striving to provide a stimulating and challenging environment for our children, I am delighted that the results published by The Sunday Times speak for themselves.

“To be ranked in the top 1% of primary schools based on our SATs results just shows what excellent progress pupils make at Monkston School.”

Schools in England were ranked based on the aggregated average scaled scores achieved by children in their SATs taken in 2017.
